What's inside the Siddur

The expanded version of Siddur Eit Ratzon (now available) is a prayerbook that can be used for all Shabbat, festival, and weekday services.

(The original version of Siddur Eit Ratzon is also available; it can be used for the morning service of Shabbat and festivals.)

The pages have four columns (see sample pages):

  1. complete transliteration
  2. Hebrew text
  3. new translation
  4. supplementary notes: explanations, commentaries, "kavvanot", guideposts to the different components of the prayer service, and perspectives on how we can understand individual prayers.

(This format is modeled on that of Siddur Chaveirim Kol Yisraeil, a Friday evening Siddur whose authors graciously made it available electronically for use in this Siddur.)

It includes:

  • a User's Guide to the Siddur
  • new prayers and meditations that enhance the morning service
  • traditional prayers of the Shabbat and festival morning service (except for some portions of "Pesukei d'Zimrah")
  • traditional portions of the Torah service
  • traditional prayers of the Shabbat Musaf service (but not the entire festival Musaf Amidah)
  • Kabbalat Shabbat
  • evening services for Shabbat, festivals, and weekdays
  • weekday Amidah; the chart at weekday morning services (PDF) indicates what pages of Siddur Eit Ratzon are used for communal or personal weekday morning services.
  • prayers traditionally recited on festivals (including "Hallel", "Yizkor", versions of "T'fillat Geshem" and "Tal", "Attah Hareita" and "Hakkafot", and a portion of "Akdamut")
  • guides for service leaders and for meditation leaders
  • glossary and Biblical references
